Manufacturing technique
The pattern of the leopard skin is represented by spots in which copper inlays were probably glued.
Microscopic examination provides various clues to the copper inlays.
The greenish discolouration of the ivory could have been caused by the
copper inlaids.
In one of the spots there is a shiny, yellowish remain which could be adhesive residue.
